@yahoofinance: Nasdaq wants to be the market that never sleeps. 💤 The Nasdaq says it will start trading stocks for 23 hours a day starting December 6. The move is still subject to SEC approval and comes as the exchange ultimately wants to offer 24/7 trading. Nasdaq president Tal Cohen says the expansion is a way to "broaden investor access and expand wealth-building opportunities" for everyone. Rival NYSE has already won SEC approval for a 22-hour day running from 1:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. #stockmarket #news #nasdaq #trading
Interesting move by Nasdaq, but the part many traders may overlook is that longer market hours don’t automatically mean better opportunities. More time can also mean more noise, lower liquidity periods, and emotional decision-making. Experienced traders know the challenge isn’t just finding setups — it’s knowing when conditions actually support a decision. Market structure, risk management, and patience will still matter whether markets trade 6 hours or 23. The real question is: will extended hours improve access, or just create more chances for impulsive trading?
