Im saying the Malfoys NEVER played about their son. The singular only time they ever did something against his best interest was when Voldy was back and could annihilate them all and she STILL risked it in front of this man's face to ask if her son was alive and lied to the fucker about his sworn enemy being alive over it. Draco wasnt "my father will hear about this" for nothing. They adored that kid.

The movie version showed the more pureblood etiquette that we always hear about. She was desperate without losing her composure. She is a Black by blood. She was not taught to grovel for help. That would’ve made her look weak and afraid. She had to always show that she believed in Voldy’s plan, especially with Bella being with her. Yes she came off a bit cold but with media literacy training you can see the tiny cracks in her composure. The “coldness” is needed to sell her backup plan idea to both Bella and Snape. The book version shows that she is breaking and foreshadows her doing something bigger that goes against Voldy. But the movie only slightly hints at it which makes the scene in the forest (Harry pretending to be dead) even more impactful. The two scenes show that her desperation grew from a task to life and death of her son

Snape couldn’t much to refuse Narcissa truly not because much he was reflecting himself on Draco part and his own mother will do anything to save his son. Eileen probably does it well the same but she loves his father. And also Bellatrix pressuring him away. And for all Merlin sake he was close to call Draco’s Godfather. He and Lucius were that close.
