@nbcchicago: Chicago’s flagship Barnes & Noble store opened its doors Wednesday to long lines. The store is located at the corner of State and Randolph streets, inside the former Old Navy location. The new flagship spans three floors and features books, music and gifts. Wednesday’s grand opening began with a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by several author book signings throughout the day until 8 p.m. #barnesandnobles #chicagonews #statestreet #bookstore #newopening
Please support your local bookstores!!!! So many great ones in Chicago.

You guys in the 90s/aughts we used to have 2 B&Ns downtown and a Borders, plus a different bookstore where Exile is now, a dedicated foreign language bookstore, and a children’s bookstore, plus books below Fields and probably more I have forgotten. B&N fills a gap in terms of their inventory of books in stock being larger, carrying games and magazines, and performing a certain role in the book ecosystem in terms of keeping amazon from becoming a monopoly. We are nowhere near saturated when it comes to bookshops in the loop.

There’s a bookstore in Printers Row (honestly not that much far down) called Sandmeyers Bookstore! Highly recommend, such a cool location and space AND there’s a GORGEOUS cafe across the street from it called Cafe Deco! Coffee and book date!!!!!👌🏼👀

I'm saying there are like four local bookstores about 15 to 30 minutes away by bus. They have book knowledgeable staff and great community feel. Open books West Loop, Sandmeyers, Madison books, and Exile.

Book lovers, please don’t forget about the bookstore located at the very bottom floor of Macy’s right across the street!!! B&N is surely gonna affect their business

You guys, I’ll support Barnes and Noble and every local bookstore. And the library. And audiobooks. My problem is that I love books. I’ll go out of my way to find a bookstore. 😂
