It is. It happened to me and my hubby. Uber would charge me £79 to from Stansted airport to our address. My hubby was charged £59!!! Same locations same destination!!! This should be illegal

There are differences when you book from different devices: basically booking on an iPhone gives you the highest price, booking from an android device a bit lower. Booking from a MacBook gives a higher price, booking from a windows based device lower. They’re basically reading out the ip address and the device information, assuming someone who books from an iPhone (on the go) have a specific urgency so they charge more. When you book from your computer at home (not a MacBook or Mac) the price is so much cheaper.

I was sitting next to my mum looking at the same flight but the price was completely different by £250 difference, I was looking at the same flight/time/date/airport with the same airline same website same WiFi and we had different prices for the flights (in the uk btw) so I believe it does exist in the UK (surveillance pricing)

It is happening though and has been happening for a while I always check what price my partner was seeing when booking flights or hotels and it was always different prices and it always went up or down depending on how much I was searching for it

We experienced something similar but we were in Stellenbosch, my UK family ordered an Uber from Stellenbosch to Cape Town and there was a significant price difference compared to when my brother ordered from an SA number. Now that I know the term, definitely will be paying more attention.

It’s mainly down to your cookies and search history rather than demographic data in the uk. I work in sales marketing with a lot of data and the rules are tight on how you target, especially income targeting individuals. For example a school can’t advertise in only specific postcodes to target wealthy families, it has to be fair across the board.

If you have nectar app try it there...I noticed it with my mum and my account...we got the same groceries but get different nectar prices..if its cheaper on mines i will buy it and vice versa....I did a video on this last year
