My senior year at West high we play 2 cross town games. The oldest is Billings Senior high and Billings West high. Earlier in the year the head coach mother passed away, the week of our crosstown my position coach/defense coordinator first born son passed away from SIDD and Senior high worn special stickers with his sons initials on them. Our jerseys also had #4 for a coaches son who passed away the year before moving back to start work as a member of our coaching staff. Sometimes the little things stand out years later.

My high school alum has a gold out game for childhood cancer for a girl who went to school with me and passed from childhood cancer. She was a couple years younger than me. #berrystrong we love you Caroline! F cancer!!!

Utah football player Ty Jordan was killed accidentally on 12/25/20, he wore #22. One of his closest high school friends, Aaron Lowe, also played at Utah and took Ty’s number in his honor. At a party after a game, Aaron was killed on 9/26/21. The next day Utah received a large poster board sympathy card signed by the entire UCLA football team (they were conference rivals). For the rest of the season, every opposing team put flowers on the 22 yard line out of respect for the team’s loss. It was very moving.
