6 ICT Concepts to Learn First Follow us here to learn more. If you’re starting with ICT, don’t try to learn everything at once. These six concepts give you a strong foundation for understanding liquidity, price delivery and market structure. 1. Liquidity Liquidity is the pool of orders around obvious price levels. * Buy-Side Liquidity (BSL): Above highs * Sell-Side Liquidity (SSL): Below lows * Equal highs/lows, previous highs/lows and swing points can all become liquidity targets. Learn to ask: What liquidity is price likely targeting? 2. Fair Value Gap (FVG) An FVG is an imbalance created by strong displacement where price moves so aggressively that a gap in efficient price delivery is left between candles. FVGs can become POIs when price retraces into them. 3. Order Block An Order Block is a price area associated with the final opposing candle or consolidation before a strong displacement that leads to a structural move. Don’t mark every candle as an Order Block. Look for liquidity, displacement and structure around it. 4. Breaker Block A Breaker Block is essentially a failed Order Block that has been invalidated and then flips its role. For example: Bullish OB fails → price breaks below it → bearish structure → retest → bearish Breaker It can become a POI for the new direction. 5. Inversion Inversion refers to a level changing its role after being broken. For example: Support → Broken → Resistance In ICT/SMC trading, this idea is commonly seen with FVGs becoming IFVGs after being violated and then acting from the opposite side. 6. Power of 3 (AMD) Power of 3 = Accumulation → Manipulation → Distribution * Accumulation: Price builds a range. * Manipulation: Price takes liquidity, often trapping traders. * Distribution: Price expands toward the intended draw on liquidity. Example: Asia Range → Liquidity Sweep → Displacement → Expansion The Foundation Don’t learn these concepts separately. Learn how they work together: Liquidity → Structure → Displacement → FVG/OB → Retest → Entry → Liquidity Target Once you understand the relationship between these concepts, ICT becomes much easier to read. ⚠️ For Educational Purposes Only #Forex #ForexTrading #ICT #SMC #Liquidity
