I don’t think that the solution to the problem of AI replacing people has anything to do with watermarking. We need to deal with the problem itself and not with tools that may help us knowing more about it. Besides, companies already have many ways to find out how much people are using AI, starting from the bill and other telemetry that is a lot more useful than this watermarking thing for such purpose. Secondly, the ownership of generated output is defined by the contractual and copyright laws, watermarking does not change any of those. Usually, you own the work done with AI assistance but if it’s done by AI from scratch you can’t copyright it.
