@k_bmiller: Idk pre gym thoughts. But this is a reoccurring thing in therapy for me, where I feel so much rage when people don’t stick up for others or help others, and for those who didn’t help or stick up for me. I’m trying to break toxic cycles everywhere I go. Now is this the best way to do it? We can all argue about that. But at least I’m trying instead of perpetuating the same shit onto my kids, unlike their dad, who also had a toxic and abusive upbringing. Anyway, thanks to those who have DMd checking on me. It’s been a weird couple of mental health days but I’m starting to feel better 🫂 #highconflictcoparenting #coparenting #breakingthecycle #childhoodtrauma #domesticabuseawareness

Chances are the kids are not going to want anything to do with their father especially if they are already not wanting to go with him at their young age!!! They will be proud mom stood up for herself!

Silent follower here… also in a high conflict co parenting dynamic. Unfortunately I cannot speak on my experiences while we are in the middle of our divorce but I have been going back and forth speaking my truth when this is finalized. He has threatened me with “defamation” lawsuits and to not be allowed to talk about any of it at all. It’s been super stressful. We share one son who is 2, your content has helped a lot because I relate in a lot of ways, makes me feel less alone. You are one strong mom and the kids will know who has been there always. Keep speaking your truth 🫶🏽

Something my dad reminded me of 101 times while I was going through a high conflict separation was that my kids will eventually learn for themselves who was in the wrong and who had their backs. I never had to badmouth their dad one single time for them to come to the conclusion that their dad and his family were all jerks. Kids are smarter than we ever give them credit for and I’m sure yours will come to the same conclusion down the road. They’ll understand that their mom needed a place to rant and to show others the effects of abuse.

This was sent to me. Clarification: you kids will never be angry at you for standing up for yourself and for them and my intention was never to imply that you shouldn’t. My point was: your husband name-calling his dad is completely unnecessary and might hurt his feelings. After everything he’s been through, small acts like that turn real advocacy into a petty back and forth. i also NEVER said you did it in front of them and I am proud of you for never showing their faces and protecting them. I am not “ignorant” or “dumb” for reminding you that your children WILL feel a way about this and you CAN lessen that by not allowing your husband to take petty jabs at their dad. I never called you mean, bully or petty? I think you are strong, smart and empowering and your videos inspire ME to speak out more but I can, and will bring up any time I see a behavior that could negatively affect a child. 🤷‍♀️

raised by a pos father, I WISH someone had called it out as not normal or acceptable behavior when i was growing up. I spent my teens & 20s in relationships that repeated the same cycles because my abuse was so normalized.

I have two certified copies of all of the court documents ready for my boys when they turn 18. Theyve been put through so much because of their dads hatred for me.. they will find out I was never the problem.

Your children know you’re looking out for them even if they can’t articulate that now. I’m the step mom and our child will not speak to his mother because of what she did to him as a child. She will not take accountability so he hasn’t spoke to her in 5 plus years. Your children know who the high conflict parents are.

Nothing you’ve done is wrong. Your kids will know and understand. They see it all regardless of how hard adults try to hide reality they see it. Example the full contact football. No way your son can’t see what’s happening there. Keep doing you it is your best therapy to begin with.

By the time they are old enough to have social media and go looking they will be old enough to understand that you are entitled to your perspective and right to speak about your experience.

I think that people just don't get it unless they've lived it. Honestly. I didn't even live thru a quarter of that you've experienced and it was awful. And I think there are so many factors at play, including public perception of abuse from men to women and the courts reaction to abuse working against you. I'm really so sorry you have to continue enduring the abuse . ❤️

I completely agree. Children absorb how adults feel and act towards them and showing them they’re worthy of protection is so important

This was me as a mom. I believed my children have a right to love all of their parents. But I also believed in giving them age appropriate truth, girl I knew there was a reason I liked you.

As a child who also went through this I have only just realised as someone almost in my 40s that despite knowing my mother was the victim of DV that I was too and also that no adult in my life saved me when they could have, they could have intervened and done something, and the deep resentment I now feel as an adult to every single family member and “trusted” adult in my life who knew and did nothing is next level. So well done mama and step dad for continually advocating for your kids and creating a safe environment 🫶❤️🥹

Can't speak for your kids, but I think as long as you are fair in that you're sharing your experience with the situation and your concerns about the impact (sparing personal details relating directly to the boys) it has on your family, it's likely that your kids will see this for what it is. My mom went no contact with her mother before I was born, and she never outright badmouthed her, but she was upfront about why the woman didn't have access to her or us in age appropriate doses. I've never felt any negative emotions towards my mom for that, and if she ever wants to air it out via book, video, whatever - full support. It's her experience and her story to share.

It will also show your boys that there is a healthy way to deal with frustration and anger that is appropriate. Just because you are a parent, doesn’t mean you don’t need a way to vent and get it off of your chest so when you are with them it isn’t weighing on you as heavily
