@crazy.clips9: came across this stray today and couldn’t just drive past her. She walking down the road in 96+ degree heat, and it was obvious she was struggling. She had what looked like some pretty serious skin issues and seemed to have difficulty walking. I tried to approach her and help, but as soon as I got close, she started barking. I couldn’t tell if she was being aggressive, terrified, or simply unsure of me. I posted hoping someone nearby could help rescue her, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to find anyone in time. When I went back to the spot where she had been, she was gone. I did leave food and water for her. There’s no way for me to know her story. Maybe she’s someone’s lost dog who has been missing for a very long time. Maybe she was abandoned after having puppies. Maybe someone had to move and left her behind. Whatever happened, she deserves better than this. This is just a reminder of how important responsible pet ownership is. Dogs depend on us for food, shelter, medical care, safety, and love. If circumstances change and you can no longer care for an animal, please find a safe way to surrender or rehome them.
