@kellyrenee077: Eight months later… this one finally came through. 🙌🏼 When I decided to go back to school, some of the education benefits I earned through the Army had expired. Getting approved for VR&E (Chapter 31) took a couple of phone interviews. Chapter 31 is covering my schooling and also provides a monthly subsistence allowance while I’m in school. Getting my Chapter 33 eligibility reinstated was different — that took documentation, an appeal, follow-ups, and eight months. But this one mattered. Because having Chapter 33 eligibility means I can qualify for the higher Post-9/11 subsistence rate while using VR&E, which makes a much bigger difference in helping cover my housing while I finish my degree over the next four years. I talk a lot about not fighting everything in life. Sometimes you have to accept what you can’t control, go with the flow, and save your energy for what actually matters. But some things are worth fighting for. And if you’re a veteran whose education benefits have expired, don’t automatically assume you’re out of options. Ask questions.
