@lee_theocdtherapist: Stop monitoring your thoughts. Start monitoring your compulsions. That’s the shift. Most people with OCD spend years trying to figure out why they’re having certain thoughts or feelings, when the real question is: What do I feel like I have to do right now? Because OCD doesn’t start with “What if?” It starts with “I have to.” I have to check. I have to figure this out. I need reassurance. I need certainty. And the more you obey those urges, the more power you give them. Fear isn’t your enemy. Fear is your teacher. Fear is your compass. It’s pointing directly at the things you still need to face. So run toward them. Let the thoughts be there. Let them scream. Let them feel uncomfortable. And keep moving forward anyway. If you’re struggling with OCD and are finally ready to break out of the cycle, DM me “CONSULT” I offer everyone a free 30-minute consultation where I’ll learn your story, teach you exactly how OCD works, and show you how to break the cycle using ERP, the most effective form of treatment for OCD. If you’d like to work with me moving forward, amazing. If not, you’ll still leave with helpful guidance and clarity. You can DM me “CONSULT” or sign up directly on my website at OCDtherapist.org, or email me at [email protected]. . . . . . . . . #ocd #ocdproblems #intrusivethoughts #ocdrecovery #ocdtherapy
started really trying to find my compulsions and have been trying to stop giving them power. it is HARD! a little example, it's not like a huge thing but wanted to start small, every night I have to check my alarm, turn it off and back on to make sure I see the how many hours until it goes off. then I'll put my phone down lay down. then I grab my phone again and do it again. I do it at least 3 times. if I go 4 I ask my husband to double check it for me.
I have been able to go a few days without checking, the panic you get is unreal but it starts to slip away. BUT then, your alarm for some reason doesn't sound off one morning. now I'm back in the loop..what if I don't wake up in time for work? what if I'm late because if it? what if I end up in an accident because I didn't leave at the time I always do, what if I get fired once I get to work because I'm late (early but late in my eyes) and so on. it's a challenge but....we got this y'all!
