I lost my best friend I knew from high school because she couldn’t understand why I stopped taking her calls. Everyday it’s a new man hurting her, one of her girl friends pissed her off, she’s depressed. I tried to talk about my relationships and to see if I was doing something wrong in said relationship. All she did was try to throw in her feelings towards the girl I was dating. It was never positive words always negative. And so I had to ask her one day why she was always nasty towards the woman I date. It’s because they were taking attention away from her. That’s it. She now lives in another city and with her fiance, also friends with him. We don’t talk that often anymore, but when we do, it’s like time hasn’t passed. Just like my guy friends, no topic is off the table. We have helped eachother through tough times, and are still ready to. No romantic connection whatsoever, there never was

I learned a long time ago that if you respect your personal boundaries then you can have women as friends. Those women who want the perks I only extend to girlfriends learn quickly not to ask those things of me. Keep your boundaries and don't let anyone take advantage of you. When a person asks for more than you want to give, remind them that "No" is a complete sentence.

To me, the hardest part about being friends with a guy is they almost never open up. You go above and beyond to be there for them but they legit aren’t able to connect on that level. It sucks when you realize that you’ll never be allowed to be there for your friend.
