And to the people saying that it is a coping mechanism. As someone studying psychology, you allowing pedophilic behavior as a form of coping is considered abusive and neglectful. Journaling your life and SA is completely fine and considered a healthy coping mechanism for the abuse aftermath. But writing graphically about the abuse to get pleasure from it later or reading and viewing such material profiting off of your trauma is actually insanely harmful and leads to desensitization which can also lead to the victim becoming an eventual perpetrator because no one helped them get a better coping mechanism that doesn't desensitize and dumb down the severity of their abuse.

I think issue is that if we were to ban that type of content, it would result in authors not being able to write about real world experiences. For example, if a character has experienced sexual assault in the fanfic, it might be used as a plot device and the rest of the content may cover how one may find ways to comfort themselves or ways to cope and heal after something like that. Then the story isn’t as much about SA as much as it is how it is like to be SAd and how to deal with it. These fics are also tagged the same way, because it is mandatory to indicate whether your fanfic includes it. If there was a bot deleting these comments, it would delete even that, even if it’s not problematic. I don’t like the other stuff being on the site either but my question is do we run the danger of 1984 if we ban certain tags?
