Diya, I agree that every woman should make her own money. Having your own money is very important because it gives you some independence. But I think we should also be careful when we say money gives you options. Sometimes the options are not really as good as we make them look. Having money can give you the ability to leave a marriage, but it doesn't mean you will find something better after leaving. Starting life again is not easy, especially when there are children, family, emotions and many other things involved. Marriage is also important. It shouldn't be treated like something that becomes less important just because a woman has her own money. Career and marriage can both be important, and sometimes one may even have to make sacrifices for the other. The question should not always be “Can I leave?” but also “Is this something worth fighting for and fixing?” Money gives you the power to choose, yes. But having a choice doesn't always mean you have a better option. I think that's the part we sometimes forget.
