As a Muslim, this is fascinating because Gog and Magog are also part of our belief and are mentioned in the Qur’an. They were described as a powerful people who caused great corruption on Earth. A righteous and powerful ruler named Dhul-Qarnayn reached a people who asked him for protection from Gog and Magog. He asked them to help him build a massive barrier between two mountains. He used blocks of iron, heated them until they became like fire, and poured molten copper over them. Gog and Magog could neither climb over it nor break through it. Dhul-Qarnayn said this barrier was a mercy from God, but that when God’s appointed time comes, it will be brought down. Islamic tradition teaches that near the end of times, Gog and Magog will be released and emerge in enormous numbers, spreading across the Earth before God ultimately destroys them.
