Counter to this I went on a hike for the Sandakan Death Marches memorials, plan on doing the same for the Thai-Burma Railway memorials. Crazy what humans can make each other do to themselves when cultures go off the rails.

I went there earlier this year. It has changed me. A haunting place that is a true sign of resilience. All humans should visit. Our local guide was a volunteer who made us all paper cranes and brought a personal sense of connection.
