Pre-writing strokes are the foundation for handwriting, and you can start practicing them with your toddler around age 2! Pre-writing strokes are the lines and shapes that make up every letter of the alphabet. Before kids can write letters, they need to master these basic strokes first. They develop in a predictable order: 1. Horizontal line (→) 2. Vertical line (↓) 3. Circle 4. Cross (+) 5. Diagonal lines 6. Square 7. Triangle We're working on the first two here! The rest can be expected to develop later. I use fun cues to help Ollie understand the direction of the stroke: ✨
