Pay them properly and they won't need tips. I'm not tipping to be rushed from my table after 30 mins and being bothered by staff throughout my meal.

When I went to the USA, it was very disconcerting to have to leave a tip because in France we rarely do it and only when the server is really nice. it's not an obligation.

To be fair, you shouldn’t walk into a restaurant five minutes before they close and expect them to serve you. I work in a restaurant and we close the kitchen about half an hour before it closes so that the staff aren’t just standing around waiting for a table that shouldn’t be coming. Anyone who walks in after that’s been done has to go somewhere else

You don’t need to agree with tipping culture, but if you’re in the US, you need to tip in restaurants. The tipped minimum wage is only $2.13/hr. Just like how the prices on store shelves don’t show the tax, the prices in the restaurant don’t show the actual cost of the paying the staff. When you don’t tip, they don’t make minimum wage. (Until laws get changed, which is unlikely to be soon)

I’m American and when I get a Job I’ll be grateful for any kind of tip. I mean they already paid the full price and I’m just doing my job. They don’t have to take their hard-earned money and take extra. I’m not going to be entitled and ungrateful.
