@wired: Vehicle surveillance giant Flock Safety has told the public for years that its technology “cannot recognize, identify, or track individuals.” It has now built a system that does both, an artificial intelligence tool for police that can identify drivers and track vehicles by their patterns of movement alone, WIRED has learned. Police misuse is only part of the problem. Flock Safety keeps all the data! They’re creating profiles on everyone and keeping all the data. Putting limits on police departments has nothing to do with the misuse going on with Flock Safety stalking every US citizen.

between the woman who was falsely accused of stealing a package & the woman who was surrounded at gun point bc another state flagged her for a crime, is proof Flock is not helping AT ALL

I really don’t think it can survive the backlash. The more they push the worse it will get.

Exactly. If they read only license plates, they wouldn’t be pointing them at golf courses, parks, girls, gymnastics, training, centers, bike paths.

It wasn’t too slow to implement safeguards. It’s entire operating philosophy is based on surveillance being AOK.

So FLOCK is a problem. A bigger problem is how many cops cannot hold back from abuse even when there is a fair chance if someone bothers to look they will get found out.

Safeguards or not it shouldn’t be used. We got too comfortable with cctv and ring camera surveillance which does nothing to stop real criminals

They have Flock cameras over swimming pools and Costco parking lots. They are not just on the roads and not just license plate readers.
