Not enough people talk about the privilege it is to have emotionally mature parents who love you.

I grew up with my family constantly telling me how different i was because of my behavior. Now that i am an adult & see that i might be neurodivergent, my family thinks im foolish for thinking that. Really want a formal diagnosis to prove them wrong

This was my ex , undiagnosed autism leads to self sabotage emotionally . It was completely her parents denial.

Before my diagnoses I thought I had borderline personality because I could switch my feelings on someone in a split second (just flip a switch to turn them from 'love of my life' to 'nothing to me' instantly). Turns out it's my coping mechanism to prevent being hurt by someone I have attachment to. Yay! 😅

First time I’ve heard the connection of autism and fearful avoidant. Autistic women have to be plagued with this attachment style.

😂 If only it were that simple. AuDHD raised with the shame, developed anxious attachment which simply taught me fearful attachment. When you are a failed adult who after a DECADE of therapy results in some cognitive understanding of healing but does NOTHING to change the world we live in. We don't bother reaching out in any capacity anymore because why bother. And, this is someone who made their whole career disability education and services and taught SEL on the regular. 😂

My mom doesn’t even believe I am. I’m a very able female, I just have no emotional regulation. I was told to knock it off my entire life.

My parents used to force me into social situations to the point of meltdowns. Shame me for not like talking to family on the phone, shame me for not being outgoing at social gatherings, etc. it’s been a long route :/

I was always the oldest daughter looking after my autistic brother all the time. They never cared to have me tested but did my brother. I think I might be too, but we’re 30 & 27 now. I was always accommodating autism that I never looked at myself for it. Granted my brother is super high functioning. You can only tell with social things.

but why does it have to be from family? i feel like bullying at school and by peers can make u feel an attachment disorder or low self worth and feeling inadequate romantically

I thought I was a malignant narcissist when I first started therapy because I never believed my family that I was the problem. I always thought them hitting a toddler in the face was the problem. Turns out, I was right.
