Wouldn't saying misogyny affects trans men actually be the bio essential position

i think transmisogyny and transandrophobia are both something the entire trans community experiences at once. transfems tend to explain it by gender bc thats the side they feel most punished by, and transmascs tend to explain it through sex because thats what they feel most punished by. and both sides are equally bad and complicated and overall we experience extremely similar things so its better to just try to understand each other and work together

I think trans men experience both Trans misogyny and misandry. Yall are attacked for being close and for not being close enough to masculinity and manhood.

If your response is ‘yes, I agree, trans men do experience transmisogyny but they are not the main targets’, you did not in fact watch or agree with the video

I really think the reason a lot of people think most trans men pass is because they just straight up don't see us as men at all until we start passing

I have never heard anyone use the terms TMA/TME who didn't just straight up hate trans men/transmasculinity

I think the issue is people see “misogyny” as only a women’s issue instead of being a term to describe patriarchal based oppression. and naturally, trans women being women are women they are affected. The idea that men can’t be affected by patriarchy(and thus can’t experience misogyny) is wrong. Patriarchy has different arms, a few being sex, gender, and sexual orientation. Transgender men are NOT see as full men under the patriarchy. To assume trans men get benefits from it is wrong, his gender will never be validated by society. however, I don’t agree with the term “transandrophobia” because it’s reactionary to the twirfs. I think doubling down on trans misogyny being the term makes more logical sense and describes the social institutions much better.

Idk why they fail to see we are seen and treated as "unruly stubborn women" who should be put back in their place. Also don't get me started on the eldest daughter turned eldest trans son phenomenon and how transphobic parents will weaponize the eldest daughter syndrome against us tenfold to try and push us back into the closet with extremely misogynistic tactics (infinite chores, forced to partake in traditionally feminine activities, forced to wear feminine jewelry/clothes, etc...)

Is it bad that I think a lot of people want to ignore us, especially many "ally" women, because they think we transitioned to get "male" privilege? I've had a few people say this to me and sometimes I wonder if it could be part of it

I also see this stereotype that trans women are punished for wanting to dress feminine in childhood while trans men aren’t punished for wanting to dress masculine. I was very much bullied and punished by kids and adults including teachers for being masculine and hanging out with boys. I was seen as abnormal. In French, the word tomboy is actually a slur, it translates to “failed boy”. I was called a failed boy my whole childhood. It is violent. Very much so. We also have the same loopholes to get access to medical transition. Another thing I don’t like is how we’re constantly viewed as secondary targets, like we weren’t targeted in the first place. A big part of Rowling’s advocacy was against trans men and especially trans boys, but people like to forget that. We’re not just getting discriminated against by mistake because they wanted to target trans women, we are also discriminated against as trans men and because we are trans men

Even trans men who do pass, present masculinely, are even able to stealth, STILL face repercussions of transmisogyny in the medical field. Whipping Girl was written six years after the release of Southern Comfort and eight years after the death of Robert Eads.

I love that a lot of the discourse is the assumption that trans men are seen as men and treated as men. Since when do transphobes respect our gender or respect us?

How can transmisogyny not affect trans men when transphobes consistently confuse trans men for trans women and vice versa 💀

my main question is does it mix as much for trans men? like a lot of the time I hear trans men talk about their experiences it sounds like you can discern more when someone is being misogynistic towards him and when they're being transphobic whereas when I'm thinking of my experiences with trans misogyny it will be people who claim they don't see me as a women while still treating me misogynistically that's not to say one is easier but it seems different from what I experience and it seems like a different term would make sense imo

I think a lot more of our community than some of us realize absolutely still cling to bio essentialism. Cisgender people tend to subscribe to bioessentialism of the physical born sex (but ignore cases where it doesn’t work like intersex people because there can’t be a third sex group or else it threatens their world view). But transgender people tend to subscribe to bioessentialism of the brain. It’s still the same beliefs- but housed in the brain and our genders. This is especially prevalent in fellow binary trans people. The idea that men are inherently evil and aggressive so therefore trans men have “male brain” and thus will always apply to these categories. Contrastingly, women are “smarter” and “right more often” also commonly “kinder” and since that’s housed in the brain trans women therefore have “female brain” and will always apply to these categories. It’s kind of obvious the way people talk about us trans men as if we get Star Trek beamed into our desired bodies and presentations whereas trans women have to “work extra hard” for it. But the problem is people only see passing and aggressive trans men as true trans men. Even allies do this. The Kratos meme about us being “the daughter in question” while funny does perpetuate these ideas that we all end up looking like that

it's like how regular misogyny affects men too. Like, the system hates women, so if a man does something that's seen as feminine, he's judged and ridiculed and told he's less than because the people around him were taught to hate women and stereotypes created about them so much that if he falls into them he gets backlash as well

I was talking to my friend (trans women idk if that's relevant lmao. I talk to her about a lotta stuff just as a second opinion from someone who isn't as online as me) and I was talking about the other video about that book and I was like "we do girl mode but we just don't call it that we just call it being in the closet" 😭 cause I don't think I've ever heard a trans man say he was girl moding lmao (bc this is the internet- no I am not saying there's something wrong with the term "boy moding" I'm just saying it's possible that some people don't think we "girl mode" bc most don't call it that lmao)

as a trans man I didn't know I was allowed to call it trans misogyny if I get harassed for being even a tiny bit fem as a trans guy. I've been told so many times I can't be affected by it that I just called it misogyny instead
