There’s something so satisfying about knowing where your food came from—and getting produce that was harvested much closer to home. Especially with all of the food recalls and foodborne illness outbreaks we’ve seen recently, buying locally can be one way to feel more connected to your food and its source. It’s not a guarantee against foodborne illness (produce can still become contaminated anywhere), but knowing your farmer and asking how your food is grown, harvested, and handled gives you more transparency.
