I have given clients pureed food but not like this. Puréed different foods separately so that they tasted everything. Purée oatmeal put serve on a bowl then puree the avocado , set aside then finally the banana. A spoon of oatmeal then banana, avocado…. I’ve been a caregiver for 17 years.

Poor Grandpa. That looks like a bowl of run off bowels. You guys should take the time and purée his food separately- get him a divided good plate. This is unbelievable and unacceptable.

The hard part with my dad when I was caregiving for him when he had dementia is when I had to give him the thickened water. I never knew there was such a thing, but it’s a powder that you add to water or a beverage to make it thick. It was Easy to swallow for him. He has since passed.

Wow he eats and responds to you. Cherish that. My father was non verbal and totally dependent and non mobile for more than 10 years. Mom about 5 years. You father is still doing exceptionally well in that he responds to some things and still walks and feeds himself.
