I noticed this as well as how compliments would affect how I felt about myself, so 3 years ago I got into the habit of just saying thank you, and not thinking too much about compliments. I didn’t want to base my self worth on whether or not I was being complimented on things anymore, and it also helped with hate and bullies and just dealing with people that talk down on others as well
