@em.richards.art: Yes, you read that right. I quit teaching after 14 years. And no, I didn’t quit to become a full-time artist. I quit because I wanted to pursue a life that actually felt like living. Education was draining the life out of me, and eventually, it was showing up in every part of our lives. We were all overwhelmed. Tired. Drowning. And one day, my husband and I looked at each other and realized: we didn't have to live that way anymore. So I quit. I quit to become a full-time mom to my boys. A better wife to my husband. And, honestly, to give myself the chance to find out what life felt like when I wasn't constantly drowning. And now that I can breathe, I notice things I didn't have the capacity to notice before. I notice the people who are pouring their hearts into their communities. The little businesses that become gathering places. The people who take a risk and build something of their own. The places that quietly become part of people's stories. I'm using my art to celebrate the small businesses and the people who make the places we call home feel like home. Because sometimes, when you finally have room to breathe, you start seeing just how much beauty was there all along. ❤️ And I'm really excited to see where this crazy little idea takes me. #WatercolorTok #SmallTownLife #SmallTownsBigStories #SmallTownAlabama #alabamaartist
