@kayonsdiary: I’m convinced insiders of legitimate companies are stealing peoples information and passing them on to the scammers who do the dirty work! Be careful guys 🫠🫶🏽 #scam #fyp #important #storytime #becareful
They sell our data. When we give our information to websites they sell it. Like our names and phone number and emails. Thats why we get soooo many emails

I’ve been saying this!!! If you’re with EE, Sky etc, they share your info somehow and know to call you to say they’re from a company you have services with

I can confirm this happens alllll the time. When studying for a course in my field, I had to look at ICO enforcement action (made public: https://ico.org.uk/action-weve-taken/enforcement/) and the amount of employees for companies who steal and sell on people's data is very very scary. Just have to be very careful

They gotta be. They have our information on their database and can exploit that with third parties if given access/money

Even if they call and know your name always say you’re busy and call back. Call the legit number you know. (Sometimes they have numbers that’s 1 digit different to the real number). They’ll also be pushy to keep you on the phone. Even texts, call and ask the legit company if they contacted you! BE VIGILANT

I use the DPD app which will tell me if I have any legitimate parcels on the way and for live tracking, never rely on the text messages

I agree. I was completing an online application and before I could even finish some man called me to ask me to confirm my details? I hadn’t even submitted the application, I politely declined. I then got a text asking me to confirm MY own number on the phones sms? When I checked my settings, there was an additional number added to my phone. Meaning, they’d accessed my phone and added themselves to receive access codes ( the verification texts you get when you need to access your banking or certain other apps.
