reading the hand book is what landed me a lawsuit. quit my job a few years ago in property management and didn't give a two weeks notice. they took money out of my last check for a "lack of 30 day notice" policy that isn't in the handbook, wasn't in my offer letter, and i did NOT sign a separation agreement that states that they can take funds from my last check for lack of separation notice. Reported it to the EEOC and sued. WON! 😌

I like to remind them that write ups are there so the company doesn’t have to pay unemployment, and if it’s not a policy in the handbook then unemployment won’t care what it says. Now I only get write ups for attendance 😂
