@estherperel_official: An important conversation is happening online around Postpartum Depression. It is essential that women can secure focused medical and mental health resources; and that we remind them it is a modern phenomenon to expect a mother to handle everything herself; or to teach her that Motherhood is instinct and she’s doing it wrong if it doesn’t come easily to her. As we discuss resourcing mothers and parents, let us consider how we can also support women relationally so they don’t feel there’s no one to turn to.
POSTPARTUM ANXIETY AND OCD ARE ALSO VERY REAL AND NOT TALKED ABOUT

I had postpartum depression before chat GPT existed and nobody had ever talked to me about it. Doctors dismissed my experience as to normal because baby days are hard. I wish I had chatGPT back then it probably would have helped me identify it and advocate for myself!

I agree with this. But instead of telling moms that they should connect and ask for support (which many do already but don't get it), we should be telling other people to support moms.
Just addressing moms and making it their problem alone, is what REALLY isolates them.

Agreed, but if we all have to support eachother more we have to work less. And to be able to do that cost of living needs to go down. Priority needs to shift from making and spending money to making and spending love and care.

Until you have experienced any level of post partum is awful & terrible. It’s a re-birth for moms too! This transition is wild AF. It’s confusing and the medical community failed me terribly 24 yrs ago! I begged for understanding and/or meds and got nothing. My husband & I together made it thru but 3 yrs later I told my doctor off and threatened him if he treated any other woman with that pathetic care that he should not be a doctor for women. He clutched his pearls 🤦🏼♀️

This is so true… imo the idea of the nuclear family has been very bad for me in delivering babies and raising them.

Society and technology have increased the price of being vulnerable. Anyone admitting weakness as a mother in a subject setting is subject to unprecedented levels of scrutiny. We must courageously remember that being human is being fallible, and that we desperately need to be able to be imperfect with one another.

🤍 One Day. 12 September 2026.
A simple global pause.
No politics. No promotion. Just one shared human moment.
Esther, your work has helped people understand that connection is not simply about being close to others, but about feeling heard, understood and emotionally present with them.
That is why even a small gesture from you could give One Day a particularly meaningful voice.
🤍
