I totally agree that a subs can be irresponsible and not pay attention to notes/obligations. BUT You have to hold your classroom responsible to be role models of you. For example, the chairs not being stacked? That is the responsibility of your students because they should know your expectations. It is early in the year, but a substitute teacher can only do so much. I always take into account that my class probably took advantage of them

I used punch cards last year and using them again and they love it. It’s gives instant satisfaction of the hole punch but they don’t get the actual prize until all 10 are completed

Every time I have a sub I have them clean up 10 minutes earlier than I usually would and I put explicit directions to make sure all scraps are picked up, all devices are plugged in, and all chairs are stacked. That way, it gets done 85% of the time instead of 20% of the time 🙃 We are so grateful for our subs, but the struggle is real!!
