@instituteofhumananatomy: "Running ruins your knees" is a myth, and the science doesn't back it up. 🦵 Osteoarthritis gets called "wear and tear," so people assume running causes it. But there's no solid evidence for that, and many people with knee OA can still run. Even better: exercise doesn't make arthritis worse. Low to moderate movement is safe for cartilage. The real risk factors? Age, obesity, past injuries like meniscus or ACL tears, and alignment or muscle imbalances. Motion isn't the villain. Unaddressed problems are. 👉 Explore our Foundations of Human Anatomy course, link in bio. #LearnOnTikTok #TikTokLearningCampaign #osteoarthritis #kneeanatomy #anatomy #humanbody #arthritis #anatomyandphysiology #medstudent #iohaanatomy

I laugh at people who say running is bad for your joints. Humanity evolved as persistence hunters to run continuously for hours hunting prey. A few hundred years of not running down prey wouldn’t change that.

I have rheumatoid arthritis since I was 9 years old (i am 46 now) and the only time I feel NOT in pain, is when I exercise...always moderate, never pushing too far, and always walk as much as you can.

What I suggest is wear a knee support if you are running long distances regularly. It has helped me a lot.
