6 signs your “anxiety” might actually be OCD: 1️⃣ You feel like you have to do something to make the anxiety go away: Instead of letting the feeling pass, you check, Google, confess, avoid, or mentally review because it feels impossible to move on until you do. 2️⃣ The relief never lasts: You might feel better for a few minutes or hours, but before long the same fear comes back and you feel like you have to do it all over again. 3️⃣ You’re chasing certainty, not reassurance: It doesn’t feel enough to think, “It’s probably okay.” OCD convinces you that you need to be 100% sure before you can move on. 4️⃣ You avoid things because they trigger the anxiety: Instead of facing the uncertainty, you start avoiding certain people, places, objects, or situations because they feel “too risky.” 5️⃣ You spend more time trying to prevent something bad than responding to something that’s actually happening: A lot of the distress comes from trying to stop something that might happen, even when there’s little or no evidence that it will. 6️⃣ The same fear keeps pulling you back in: Even after you’ve “solved” it, OCD finds another reason to doubt, restarting the cycle. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. While anxiety and OCD can overlap, OCD follows a cycle of intrusive thoughts, distress, and compulsions that can keep people feeling stuck. If you think you might be experiencing OCD symptoms, take our free symptoms quiz using the link in our bio. It’s not a diagnosis, but it can be a helpful first step in learning more about what you might be experiencing. #ocd #ocdproblems #intrusivethoughts #ocdawareness #anxiety
