That is the dumbest way to do a car line pickup in my life. The schools my kids have been to give you a tag to put in your window and have an adult with a walkie talkie relay the names of the kids to line up in order of when the parents arrive, then they're walked to their parent's car by an adult when the parents get to the designated spots. This method is chaos.

my school was too small and didn’t have the infrastructure for a car line, they had to park and come get us from the door

our system you have to have the child's name on the paper in the window, they will only allow so many kids out of the pickup area at one time and they all move up....and if you don't have the paper the office had to be called well ahead of time so they knew of the change

In the elementary school I went to every parent was given a tag with a number. It would be relayed to the teachers inside the cafeteria via walkie-talkie. Then that teacher would type it into a Google doc that was presented on a tv and the kids had to either know their number or they had a teacher that had a sheet of numbers and kids.

thank Zeus my school is (somewhat) understanding about how shity the buses are. If the bus isn't at the school after an hour-ish after schools starts, it's considered a no show and all students are excused. If a bus shows up after that hour, the students missing from that bus are still excused and they excuse all the students on the bus and send them to class. (they'll still yell at the students for being late 🤦♂️, but at least it's excused.)

And here in Peru kids pay public bus, student fee, and go with everyone else 😂 or walk home. Sometimes the buses won't let you in because the student fee is too cheap and they rather have a passenger that pays the full fee. Sometimes the guy in charge of collecting the fee for the bus is also mean to them. It's like russian roulette for kids every day.

My child's school & the schools around us have car tags for their rear view mirror. Each kid is assigned a number of their own that they keep all through elementary school. They call out their numbers and each car pulls up to the A, B, C, and so on placard. They call only so many at a time. Such as 28 A, 129 B, and so on.
