@newemergingking: 90 boys. One question: Was that REALLY a yes? I asked a young lady for a hug. She said no. I kept asking and trying to convince her until eventually I got a “yes.” Then I asked the boys: Was that a real yes? No. We’re not teaching boys how to convince somebody to say yes. We’re teaching them how to respect a no and recognize when someone is only agreeing because they feel pressured. A real yes shouldn’t have to be begged for, pressured out of somebody, or manipulated. I’m grateful that organizations around the country are opening their doors and allowing us to have these conversations with young men. Thank you to the Nate McMillan Foundation for bringing me here to Raleigh and believing these lessons matter.

Adults need to learn this with children as well. I once had my best friend tell my child if she didn't do something, she couldn't get hugs from her anymore. I told my friend that restricting affection shouldn't be a punishment. Also, if my daughter doesn't feel like hugging anyone, she has that right.

My husband passed away in 2024 and I feel this stuff would be good for my sons how do I sign them up? Because although I can tell them this stuff it hit different coming from a man and being around other young men just like them.
