"Wind with rain can bring destruction to towns and cities," the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad wrote on page 157 of His monumental book, "The Fall of America." Chicago and surrounding cities and states are now experiencing just how destructive Allah (God's) weapon of wind and rain can be. A multi-day severe weather outbreak featuring tornadoes, strong winds and flash flooding stretched across parts of the Midwest and into the Appalachians. Part of the outbreak was an Aug. 11 storm system that struck the Chicago metropolitan area and swept into parts of Northwest Indiana. Meteorologists classified the storm as a derecho, a long-lasting band of thunderstorms known for destructive, straight-line winds sometimes rivaling the strength of hurricanes and tornadoes. The storms and the powerful, hurricane-strength winds that accompanied them uprooted trees, damaged roofs, downed power poles and flooded roads.
