@preschoolvibes: Day six of preschool. This video is from last year in my previous classroom, and today we’re focusing on problem-solving skills. I want my preschoolers to understand that they are big kids and can start trying to solve some problems on their own. We teach them to try at least two problem-solving strategies before asking a grown-up for help. We use puppets, and everyone gets one while we sing our problem-solving song and practice different strategies together. We also read the social story Talk and Work It Out. I highlight the parts I want to read and paper clip together the pages I skip so the story stays short and appropriate for preschool attention spans. Problem solving takes a lot of practice, so this is something we keep coming back to throughout the year.
