@falatinglwfs: You can lose your money in an HYSA. I'm a financial advisor and I help my clients, a majority of whom are Black millennial women, navigate their financial needs and goals. A lot of my content surrounds the soft life, personal finance, and financial literacy. So if you're a Black Millennial woman with over $200k in income or $100k in investable assets and are looking for a Black financial advisor, I'd love to help you grow, protect, understand, and manage your wealth. I hope this helps. #blackfinancialadvisor #wealthgap #personalfinanceforwomen

Just opened up a high-yield savings account at 18 years old and my first credit card through capitol one. I'm currently working a part-time receptionist job while in community college for business. do you have any advice for someone in my situation so I can set myself up the correct way lol. I have so many goals. I just don't wanna get flustered. Should my first year just be trying to build my savings and credit and then potentially open a Roth IRA later on? I also want to break into stocks and learn how they work. I love your content and any advice would be so appreciated.

This is misleading. Potential inactivity or dormancy fees are required to be included in account disclosures. Additionally, before escheating funds to the state in which you reside, institutions are required by law to make good faith attempts to let you know. I audit financial institutions and I have never once seen a case where a member was not called/emailed/messaged/mailed etc some sort of notice (and MULTIPLE notices) that their dormant account would be subject to escheatment. None of this just “happens” unless you choose to be completely unaware of your money. ALSO- this can happen with ANY account, not just an HYSA.

I had NO idea this was a thing! 😳 I literally stopped the auto transfer to my HYSA this past January to direct the money to another account. Let me go and set that transfer back up! 🏃🏾♀️

I definitely didn’t know this! I don’t deposit anymore but I will begin moving the interest every other month so that the balance stays level.
