Saracen. Being from a Western anglophone country, it's impossible not to have a biased viewpoint of the crusades. As much as modern historians try to remedy this, it's no small task. Understanding a people who speak another language, and whose very society is based upon the principles of a different religion, is exceptionally difficult. It's unsurprising that Muslims have been cast as the enemy in the Crusades, made worse still in the post 9/11 world we now inhabit. However it's important to remember that to the people of Islam, the crusaders were simply foreign invaders.
