the soap was a cover for them making extreme amounts of nitro glycerin for project mayhem no? and the removal of identity of the members i never read as Jack being a leader of his own corporate world and more a commentary on masculinity and how these people who felt they served no purpose in society could find purpose in giving up that identity and links to society. an interesting take but i think it sort of misses the major themes of the book and film to try and drive this.

In my point of view, fight club was not a commentary on what masculinity should be, its commentary on those who based their identities on their idols, what their idol says, they say what they idol do they do even if they dont really agree w their idol but they do so anyways. The narrator perfectly embodied that throughout the film leading to the plot twist. Thats all for me
