Psychologists have deemed the Adam's family as the healthiest sitcom family ever to have aired on TV

It is sad that society thinks it's weird for a man to be hot for his wife.

and they were the most supportive parents ever. the episode where Pugsley wanted to be a boy scout. They were horrified. and still got that boy the uniform and everything. the Addams are fucking life goals

❤️❤️❤️❤️Yes! It strikes me as feminist in that Morticia is also clearly so in love with Gomez too. And she is also very comfortable being worshipped, adored, and wooed. Not as an object nor a projection, just for being herself. She is an unapologetically sexual person but not in any way that feels uncomfortable or performative. She’s a whole, dynamic, layered and complex person.

minor correction, they did not have a mortgage. They were independently wealthy.

As someone who's watched every episode of the Addams Family thousands of times, that show was WILDLY ahead of its time and unapologetically progressive. I love everything about it.
That being said, I struggle to watch any kind of new Addams Family related production. "Wednesday" changed how Gomez and Morticia met and that bothered me. 🤣

The fact that they are supposed to be a parody of what not to look like or be, and they ended up making such a healthy family and marriage 😂

so many men want to be a gomez to their wives. they may not have realized the role model they should follow.
likewise I think many women want to be Morticia, but again can't find the role model.

The entire family were meant to depict outcasts being more closely knitted than the so called "normal" people who treat them as such.

the Adam's Family was meant to be the opposite of what a normal family of that time was, and it was extremely common for parents to hate each other during that time, having spouses that actually like each other was almost never really seen, and therefore having a functional and loving family was added into the show

I love that the Adam's family thesis was basically "you can be culturally the opposite of the white picket fence family, and still be in love and show your family how much you care in the ways that matter to them"

I’m crazy about mine. I’m a hard Gomez and she is my Morticia. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met inside and out. Her existence never gets old to me. Her presence is a gift at all times. It’s hard to not constantly speak to her in poetry. When I’m with her she doesn’t have to lift anything. She doesn’t touch any door, not even the one to my car. She is the purest inspiration for chivalry. The way some men move around their partners baffles me. Because I could never be so lackadaisical with mine. A lack of effort is a lack of love and respect.

I stand by my advice to women when dating “find someone who is obsessed with you. Not in a creepy way, in a Gomez Addams way.” I found a man like that and it makes life SO great.

To the folks that didn't know, John Astin (Gomez) admitted that he was absolutely in love with Carolyn Jones (Morticia). She liked him too, but they were both married so neither one of them cheated and didn't go that far and stayed friends. But the attraction was THERE! 😌❤️(Also, Carolyn Jones was married to Aaron Spelling, Tori Spelling's dad.)
