The sad part of this is that it reinforces the stereotype that Christianity is a fear-based religion because of the heavy use of consequence and the conditions of certain blessings. I think it’s important to be reminded of the fact that our mere existence is a blessing and the fact that the lord gave his only son so we could be close to him, focusing on God is of course the main objective but I feel like this anointment could become another idol when we frame it as something we need to deserve or something we only get when we behave (even tho that is the entire point of what you’re telling us)!
