@techsavvy_dad: POV: you inherited a job with zero handover 1. The last guy left three months ago. His knowledge left with him. His inbox left with IT. 2. There’s a project with your name on it now. You’ve never heard of it. There are no notes. 3. Every answer you need is in emails you can’t see, sent by someone you’ll never meet. 4. You’re not doing the job yet. You’re doing archaeology, digging for what the last person just knew. 5. Nobody did a handover. Not out of malice. There just wasn’t a system that kept anything after they badged out. A person leaving shouldn’t mean their work leaves too. When offboarding auto-archives every email and attachment on schedule, the new person doesn’t start from zero, they start from everything. No handover needed. You just log in, search, or ask, and the answer’s already there waiting. Ever inherited a role with nothing but a login and good luck? #office #work #careeradvice #creatorsearchinsights #fyp

Someone called asking for follow up. What follow up? What happened, what do you want from and what did the previous person ask of you? after weeks of handling the matter, I realized both of them were referring to the wrong documents. Turns out no action need to be done, everything is already in order.

At the previous place I worked at, the executives had me take over projects outside of my job description. I was overworked and on top of that, bullied by other staff, especially the executive staff. When I resigned, i got rid of everything that i developed for work outside of my JD (proposals, trackers, concept notes for activities thaf i came up with) and whoever that came after me had nothing to refer to when they had to rake over from me. I don't think anyone stayed in that position for a long time. My former supervisor kept calling me even six months after I resigned because he had no idea of the amount of work I have been doing nor any references on any of the new activities that i developed.

my previous job used to DELIBERATELY fire their GM's every like 6 to 9 months to keep their pay low and never allowed them to train or have contact with the new GM so we literally had to completely start over with every new GM...with no access to whatever they had done previously...

I'm pretty sure they left the project for a reason and a problem they couldn't solve and confused how to document it 😂

I don't document all of my projects thinking it's all my hardwork and I want them to experience the same thing data discovery, debugging, etc. Ethical wise I'm I wrong?

im sorry to the 4 new hires to cover me. i was overworked to the bone. i dont have any assistance, i power through everuthing for 9 years straight. i dropped everything and resign when the mental toll asked for payments. after leaving the job for one year, they still enquiry on some projects that ive done back then. To any manager out there, tech leds, HR, people relations, think pls. dont cut budget when the work load is alot and theres only 1 person handling it. id be happy to have an assistant or another colleague. that can do the little task. i rather go broke then go crazy and commit Spicy.
