Salvation comes when we repent and believe in Jesus. Then a transformation happens and you're a new creation. That new creation is different from before. If the new creation is the same as before, there has been no death and no resurrection. The born-again christian now hates sin. They might stumble from time to time, but they hate sin, whereas the natural man loves sin and doesn't see anything wrong with sinning.

To preach a gospel where a Christian must remain inherently carnal until death is to preach a "halfway salvation"—a system that binds the soul to the very enemy it claims to defeat. The true "Good News" is not that Christ saves people in their sins, but that He saves them FROM their sins (Matthew 1:21). Is God not powerful enough to give you a new heart that no longer wallows in the mire? The "mental sins" you describe sounds like the old man Adam, not the new heart He inserts when He wholly sanctifies you. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV — And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole SPIRIT and SOUL and BODY be preserved BLAMELESS unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
