Ma’am 😂 I think WE deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for the mere existence of this hair (jokes, obviously)! Seriously though, having long princess hair has always been incredibly important to her. It's something we've worked so hard on to make possible, while still meeting her sensory needs. It might sound ridiculous to those who don’t understand, but for those who do, you’ll immediately get why having her hair this length and so healthy is a huge accomplishment. Hours of research and trial and error went into finding a sensory-friendly routine. Honestly, even though we only wash and set her hair once a week, it’s still a miserable hour for both of us 😂. But it's one of those things we’ve agreed on, and she knows it’s necessary. I do my best to make it as quick and painless as possible, and she does her best to let me! Currently, we wash once a week with a very heavy moisture leave-in conditioner. I then dry it, and she wears a shower cap all week long. She only tolerates a braid, so it goes into a braid before school every day. When needed, I re-wet it with rosemary water that has other moisturizing oils. And I've even learned to cut it myself so we don’t need to go to a salon unless she wants to.
