@sagapomiss: After filling my summer with all kinds of U‑pick trips around Seattle, I finally checked off this long‑saved Oregon landmark 🪨 — Cannon Beach. The 70‑meter‑tall sea stack, Haystack Rock, is absolutely breathtaking. Cannon Beach has also been named one of the world’s most beautiful beaches by National Geographic. ⏰ Best Time to Visit ✅ Always check the tide chart!! 👉 Arrive one hour before low tide🌫️. You can walk to the base of the rock and explore the tide pools. 👉 During a minus tide, the rocky shore is fully exposed, where you may spot starfish⭐, sea anemones, and small crabs🐚. ⚠️ At high tide you cannot reach the rock’s base. You can only take photos from a distance, though it’s still fairly close. 🅿️ Parking Tips There are free public parking lots in town🆓. After parking, walk a short distance south along the beach to reach Haystack Rock. Multiple parking spots are available. If you only want to photograph the rock, search for parking near it. Otherwise you’ll face a fairly long walk over soft sand, which can be tiring. ⚠️ Important Reminders 1. Seaweed‑covered rocks are very slippery. Watch your step to avoid falls. 2. ❗Climbing Haystack Rock is prohibited. Do not touch starfish or sea anemones. This is a protected area and fines apply for violations. 3. Strong coastal winds💨! Bring a light jacket even on sunny days❗ It can get surprisingly cold🥶. You may get goosebumps even when it’s 30 °C if you stay in the wind for long. 💡 Quick Tips Between April‑July, you might be lucky enough to spot puffins🐦 nesting on top of the rock. Winds pick up near the rock, so expect messy hair — portrait photos can be tricky. 🌆 Evening light is back‑lit.
