This is NOT a braking drill. So why do we practice this compression drill? For multiple reasons; ~transfer weight from front to rear ~to compress the forks ~put more pressure on front or rear tire or both. ~It’s also to put more pressure into the pegs and onto the rear tire as we deliver power to get more traction and hold pressure. This technique can lead into front wheel lifts and the beginning of certain wheelies but we need to work on each individual part of this particular drill to coordinate it all, because believe me the timing is incredibly tricky. We’re not just going through the motions. We’re deliberately delivering weight into the pegs. And we use different movements and angles for every situation. No two riders and situations are the same. You watch someone like Jarvis in a rock garden, he could be doing it with his weight almost all the way back. That’s why it takes so long to develop this kind of feel. But that’s why I’m making multiple videos to break down a simple but insanely effective drill to improve your technical riding. Don’t miss a tip or drill to conquer those sketchy trail situations!
