The fact that it IS about a little rat having it's life cut short by an unfortunate encounter with a cat IS what makes me cry every time. Because it is a death seen as so "banale" or even wanted by so many but it is literally a full, diverse, little life having been ended as any of our lives could end at any moment and the heart of aknowledging instead of brushing it off.
