Hey so if the office doesn't call you to tell you he isnt there...then he is there.

I love it when teachers say “I have 30 kids….” When the office staff is expected to do things for hundreds of kids. I see your 30 kids and raise you 750 kids.

My son’s district has the tech where students swipe their student id on and off the bus and in the app I can see the time he swiped and real time location of the bus!

Can you sunscreen my child before recess?
Can you make sure their water bottle is filled?
Can you make sure they are eating their lunch?

There was a note, in a students lunch box, on how to prepare and heat/microwave their lunch.

Gen X here. We walked to school, back home for lunch, then back to school, then back home. 6th graders stood in intersections crossing us. Parents barely knew where we were.

We’re not even supposed to use our phones to call parents and most rooms don’t have landlines any more

How on earth can the teacher educate children with all these little things that parents expect of them? School is a learning institution. People get your life together with your kids. Kids are your responsibility the teacher secondary.

I had a patent complaint that the child’s shoes were untied and I should teach him to tie his shoes. I said I’m trying to teach him to read, you need to teach him to tie his shoes!

I’ve had more than one parent follow the bus to school. If you’re gonna follow the bus just drive the kid yourself. Makes no sense. We had so many parents park and watch preschool/kindergarten recess that the district put a privacy banner along the fence.

If the school calls you because your kid isn’t there, then the bus didn’t drop him off. I’m barely responsible enough to submit my attendance on time…

I’m sorry but why do we even have teachers and schools anymore? Neither do anything for the kids. it’s not what it use to be in the 80’s and 90’s.

I should absolutely be place to make sure that your kid made it to each class and to school unrealistic to have a phone call, but there’s absolutely should be a card swipe or app. Attendance shouldn’t just be for the school to charge money for our kids. It should also be able to let us know they’re there safely.

Invested teachers who actually care at my school do it. 🤷🏻♀️Takes a village. And that’s what the office is for too! I send my son on the bus, I work out of town. So yes I expect a call if he’s absent. Automated is fine lol 🙄

Hmm maybe build a relationship with the parent so they trust and feel comfortable with the school so then they won’t worry and feel the need to request that 🤷🏻♀️

I think you should have a menu of offered services and their prices. For $50-100/mo. I’ll make that call.
