@johnhopebryant_: Most people were never taught how Haiti helped shape America as we know it today. 🇭🇹🇺🇸 In the late 1700s, Haiti—then the French colony of Saint-Domingue—was one of the most profitable colonies on Earth, built on the forced labor and knowledge of enslaved Africans. Then they fought back. The Haitian Revolution defeated Napoleon’s forces and ultimately created the world’s first independent Black republic. That victory also helped derail France’s ambitions in North America and contributed to Napoleon’s decision to sell the Louisiana Territory to the United States—828,000 square miles that nearly doubled the size of the country. America got land. Haiti got a bill. In 1825, France forced Haiti to pay an enormous indemnity under threat of military invasion—a financial burden that would weigh on the country for generations. That’s why understanding history and understanding money go hand in hand. Wealth can be built, protected—and stolen. Sometimes with a gun. Sometimes with a signature. We die for lack of knowledge. It’s what we don’t know that we don’t know that can hurt us the most. Haiti’s story isn’t just Black history or Caribbean history. It’s American history. And it deserves to be understood. 🇭🇹 📘 Capitalism for All — National Bestseller 🎙️ Money & Wealth Podcast — New episodes every Thursday on the Black Effect Podcast Network & iHeartRadio 🤝 Free financial coaching through @operationhopehq #FinancialLiteracy #FinancialFreedom #Wealth

the most important part of the Haitian history is, on October 9th 1779, Haiti sent 500 men to help the U.S. with the independence war against England. that's why we have America today. remember England had pretty much regained the whole 13 colonies back from New Hampshire all the way down to Georgia. After they met the Haitian troops in Savannah Georgia, they had no choice but to fold. Therefore, if it wasn't for those 500 black Haitian sailers(soldiers) and Haiti, we wouldn't have the United States that we have today. then few years later, after defeated the great Napoleon army in 1803, The United States was able to purchase the Louisiana territory, which was the whole Midwest, from the now Louisiana State, all the way up to "Alberta" Canada.

So Haiti shape America because of the Louisiana purchase. To be honest the U.S. would bought Louisiana anyway. Just like they with Alaska and Hawaii.
