@drsakintayo: There comes a point in your life when you have to stop apologising for being yourself. I recently came across a powerful statement from Oprah Winfrey about no longer apologising for being “full of herself.” It reminded me of something I have learned over the years: confidence is not something you should be ashamed of. You should know your value. You should know what you carry. You should be confident enough to walk into a room without feeling the need to make yourself smaller just to make other people comfortable. After thousands of conversations with successful people, one thing becomes clear: successful people take responsibility for their lives. They understand that their choices, actions and mindset matter. Sometimes people will ask, “Who do you think you are?” My answer is simple: I know that I am important. I know that I am capable. I know that I have something valuable to offer. That is not arrogance. Arrogance is looking down on others. Confidence is knowing who you are without needing to diminish anyone else. I stopped apologising for being myself a long time ago. I speak like myself. I think like myself. I live like myself. And I am comfortable with that. Remember, only a fruit-bearing tree gets stoned. When your life begins producing results, criticism will come. Do not let it distract you. Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep producing. Stop apologising for your success. Stop apologising for your failures. Stop apologising for your confidence. Most importantly, stop apologising for being you.
