And that’s where you lose me because at work at a job, it’s not you don’t get to hang out with your friends. It is either you finish your work if you have a nice boss or you get fired, you decide not to show up to work you decide to make a toxic work environment you get fired you lose your job that is the natural consequence of your actions and quite honestly that kind of is a punishment because you’re losing income you’re losing your ability to pay bills and I get a child. It’s not really gonna understand that concept but at the same time is also kind of our job to teach him that concept, but there is a difference between shaming them and making them feel ashamed of themselves and like they’re worthless versus constructive criticism, and ensuring natural consequences are administered.

I know that I have definitely seen instances where punishment did zero good in changing behaviors. Punishment did not work well with my sister or a friends child. Those are just two examples I can think of off the top of my head
